Irrigation Tech is committed to providing the best and most innovative irrigation system design to efficiently and effectively water your lawn and landscaped areas. We are fully insured and:
- Follow all laws for permits, utility stakeouts, testing, and employment.
- Use the best devices and most durable materials and devices – including WiFi controllers and copper plumbing for interior work (e.g., backflow prevention device installation and water supply to the exterior).
- Do not cut corners during installation to reduce our costs–at your expense.
This is why–unlike our smaller competitors who only provide a one-year warranty and may not be able to show up when you call them to back for warranty work–we can warrant our systems for five years*. And, we are staffed so that you can reach us by phone or email and to show up if you have to call us back to service a problem with your new system.
*If you contract with us to perform annual start-ups and winterizations and to repair any damage to your system caused by yard or other work, falling trees and limbs, rocks heaved by frost, overgrown tree roots, animal damage, and settlement (especially in new construction or recently regraded yards).
Best Price ≠ Best Performance & Operating Cost
If you are shopping for an irrigation system, it is important to understand that different installers will propose different layouts, scopes of work, and materials that may yield different–and less than desirable watering results–and often higher operating costs.
Why do different irrigation layouts deliver different — and sometimes unsatisfactory — results?
- Some installers price systems using as few sprinkler heads and expensive-to-install sprinkler zones as possible to cover the areas to be irrigated. They may also use a very basic controller to operate the system. Installers—and especially the ones who do not provide system services such as start-ups, repairs, and winterizations- do these things so they can give you a low price because they think that is what it takes to get your business. A price-driven approach to laying out an irrigation system will usually cause some areas to be overwatered–creating wet spots, leaving others underwatered–creating brown spots. A first cost-driven layout can also waste water by overwatering some areas and, depending on the controller used, may cause the system to run too long or too often, depending on the weather.
- Some installers may simply ‘eyeball’ your property and give you a verbal price for a system without creating an irrigation plan for you to see–or a proposal for you to sign. Then, if you choose to use them, they will rely on their memory to do what they said they would do weeks or months later, when it’s time to do the work. If a contractor’s memory isn’t as good as it should be – or if they haven’t communicated everything that was agreed to with their crew, the installed system they install may not be the system you expected to get.
At Irrigation Tech, we use high-resolution mapping software and CAD drawing tools to develop a scaled irrigation plan that we know will work. We also warrant our systems for five years to do the job they were designed to do. In fact, when performing our installation work, we may even install one or two extra heads—at no additional cost to you–if we determine that they are required to accomplish the intent of the plan.
Our irrigation plans use different zones, different sizes and types of sprinkler heads, and drip irrigation for planting beds to do the right job of watering. We also use WiFi controllers connected to a weather service so that your system does not have to run when rain is forecast or after a hard rainfall. And we accompany our plans with a written proposal that includes our five-year warranty. If our proposal is beyond your budget, we will propose alternatives that could reduce the price. For example, taking a multi-year-phased approach to the plan, doing less of the proposed plan, or developing a different layout that will deliver different results.
