IRRIGATION TECH IN ACTION

REPAIRING A LARGE PIPE LEAK

The photos below were taken at an institutional property where there was a large leak. To stop the leak Irrigation Tech rebuilt the control valves and piping.

PULLING A COMMERCIAL WATER SUPPLY LINE & INSTALLING A VALVE BOX

In these photos our installation manager prepares to pull a 1-1/2″ main water supply line using our vibratory plow.

In this photo, our installation manager is directing two techs, one of whom is holding the control wire which will be dropped into the ground while the pipe is being pulled into and through the ground.
Image
In this photo our installation manager operates the vibratory plow while one tech guides the pipe and another feeds the wire as the pull progresses.

Here the pipe pull continues.

And finally, the pull is complete!
Image
Next, the end of the pull is excavated and made ready for plumbing.
Image
Then, a tech cuts the pipe to length.
Image
After that, a tech primes the pipe for gluing and the control valve is glued into place.

When the plumbing is complete, a valve box is installed over the control valve and backfilled.

Here is a view inside the valve box with a freshly installed control valve, wired and ready to work.

MAKING EMERGENCY REPAIRS

Situation:

A site contractor was expanding the parking on an existing office building property with an existing irrigation system. They hit the 3″ mainline and “repaired” it. The contractor was in the process of paving over their repair when our sales and service manager showed up at the site and immediately noticed that they had used ordinary drainage fittings for the repair instead of the special pressure fittings required for this application. Our tech turned the water on - and the site contractor’s repair immediately blew apart!

Solution:

Our sales and service manager quickly figured out what was needed for the repair, pulled the necessary materials from his well-stocked van, and finished the work minutes before the area was to be paved over. Thanks to his sharp eyes and troubleshooting technique, a costly disaster and disruptive rework were averted!

REPLACING OLD WORK

Nothing lasts forever. This is an electric valve in a system that we installed over 25 years ago. The valve developed a small leak, so Irrigation Tech replaced it and restored the system to good working order.
