Your irrigation system does more than just keep your lawn looking lush — it connects directly to your home's drinking water. And if that system isn’t properly maintained, particularly the backflow preventer, it can pose a very real health risk to you and your family.

What Is Backflow — and Why Should You Care?
Irrigation Tech Helps You Stay Safe — and Code-Compliant!
Backflow occurs when water from your sprinkler system flows backwards into your household water supply. This can happen during a sudden drop in water pressure — say, when a fire hydrant is opened nearby or a water main breaks.
Here’s the issue: the water sitting in your irrigation system isn't clean. It may contain fertilizer, pesticides, pet waste, or bacteria picked up from your lawn. Without a working backflow preventer, all of that can end up in your kitchen faucet, your shower, or your child's drinking glass.
This isn’t a rare occurrence. It's a known public health concern. That’s why building codes here in our area require all irrigation systems to have a certified backflow prevention device — and to have it tested and maintained regularly.
At Irrigation Tech, we don’t just install sprinkler systems — we protect your water. Our technicians are trained in both the installation and annual maintenance of backflow preventers. We know the regulations, we know the risks, and we know how to keep your system safe, efficient, and hassle-free.
If your backflow preventer hasn’t been inspected in the last year, it’s time to schedule a checkup.
More Than Safety: The Benefits of an Automatic Sprinkler System
While backflow prevention is essential, it's just one piece of the puzzle. A professionally installed irrigation system by Irrigation Tech offers a suite of long-term benefits:
Saves Time & Effort
No more dragging hoses or guessing when and how long to water. Set it and forget it. Your system does the work — delivering the right amount of water to the right areas at exactly the right time.
Saves Water
Our systems are designed for precision. They reduce runoff, avoid overwatering, and include sensors that know when it's rained. This isn't just smart irrigation — it's conservation in action.
Saves Plants
Plants love consistency. With our systems, they get it. Regular, measured hydration leads to stronger roots, healthier foliage, and a landscape that thrives through the seasons.
Protects Your Investment
Curb appeal matters. A well-irrigated lawn and garden can boost your home’s value and make a lasting impression. And because the system is underground, all its functions are as well — no visual clutter.
